Know Your Car: Horsepower

Horsepower is a common unit used when measuring the power of an engine. Most people think horsepower referred to the power possessed by one horse. For example, if I took out my engine, I could strap 300 horses to the front of my truck and be able to get the same amount of power as my 300 hp engine. This is not true. The conversion is actually one horsepower equals 746 watts. A horse only generates 0.7 hp.
